About the University of Arizona
The University of Arizona was founded in 1885 in Tucson, Arizona — the state's oldest and most prestigious flagship public university. UA is recognized as one of America's "Public Ivies" and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), the most selective consortium of leading North American research universities.
UA holds an R1 Carnegie classification — the highest designation for doctoral research universities. The university is home to 29 members of the National Academy of Sciences and 18 members of the National Academy of Engineering, and serves as a key research partner for NASA. Notably, the cost of living in Tucson is approximately half that of Los Angeles or San Francisco, making UA an exceptional value for international students.
