HYP Global and Clemson University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Launch Official Pre-Master Boot Camp (PMBC) Partnership

In October 2023, HYP Global formalized an official Pre-Master Boot Camp (PMBC) partnership with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) within Clemson University's College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences (CECAS).

The PMBC targets Clemson's MS in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) and MS in Computer Engineering (MSCpE) programs, offering a 10–12 week intensive online preparation program for students with limited engineering backgrounds or those transitioning from non-STEM disciplines. Students who pass the assessment and complete the formal application receive an official Full Offer of admission to Clemson's ECE graduate programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can students from non-STEM backgrounds (Business, Economics, Liberal Arts) apply for ECE graduate programs through PMBC?

Yes. PMBC is specifically designed for cross-disciplinary students transitioning into a technical field. Non-STEM applicants need a minimum GPA of 3.0. The four core PMBC courses — Engineering Math, Computer Programming, Data Structures & Algorithms, and Circuit Design — systematically build the prerequisites required for MSEE and MSCpE, helping non-technical students make a successful transition into graduate engineering coursework.

Is a formal Clemson application still required after completing PMBC?

Yes. After successfully completing PMBC and meeting the academic standard, students are still required to submit a formal application through Clemson University's official online application system. Based on PMBC completion and performance, the ECE department will issue a Full Offer of admission — with no GMAT or GRE score required.

What are Clemson's strengths for engineering career outcomes?

Clemson's Michelin Career Center connects students directly with top engineering employers through exclusive recruiting events, on-campus interviews, and paid CO-OP internship programs. Key employer partners include BMW (whose Spartanburg plant is the brand's largest production facility in the world), Michelin (North American headquarters), General Electric, Siemens, and Boeing — making Clemson one of the strongest universities in the U.S. for industrial and advanced manufacturing engineering careers.
