7th Anniversary Series | Voices from the Team: What International Education Means to Us

HYP Global's seven years of growth wouldn't have been possible without a team of people who've spent years in this industry and always kept students at the center. To mark our anniversary, we invited three long-time colleagues to share their reflections.

Connie Song (Marketing Director): A Bridge Between Dreams and Resources

In 2019, Connie joined HYP Global as one of the earliest members of the founding team, helping build the Pre-Master Boot Camp (PMBC) from the ground up — coordinating closely with U.S. universities on course design and academic alignment, and earning trust through clear admissions advising and patient outreach to Chinese students and their families.

“Many people don't realize how many steps it takes for a program to truly take root — from initial discussions with universities to academic confirmation, from market outreach to admissions guidance, then to student onboarding and feedback. Outwardly, it's just a program. To me, it felt like a bridge, connecting students' dreams, parents' hopes, and university resources all together.”

Reflecting on the challenges the industry has faced in recent years — policy shifts, global uncertainty, economic fluctuations — Connie's feelings are complex: “Yes, we've seen enrollment declines and rising anxiety among students and parents. But at the same time, I've seen another reality — even amid uncertainty, many students still choose to study abroad because they believe education will broaden their horizons.” She adds, “Education is about building long-term value. It doesn't lose its meaning because of short-term disruptions.”

Doris Liu (Recruitment Director): Thirteen Years in International Education

Doris's career began in 2012 at New Oriental's Guangzhou branch, as a graduate study-abroad advisor for the United States, witnessing the peak years of Chinese students' demand for U.S. graduate study. By 2015, she was leading a 30-member team handling the full application process for U.S. graduate schools. In 2022, she joined HYP Global, shifting from directly serving students and parents (B2C) to serving institutions and channel partners (B2B).

“Over the past decade, the U.S. graduate study market has changed significantly. In the past, families focused mainly on ‘Can we go abroad?’ Today, their questions are more about ‘Why go abroad?’ and ‘Will it be worthwhile?’” As HYP Global's China Director of Channel Recruitment, Doris believes that transparency of information and professionalism of channels have become decisive factors for both students and institutions. “International education won't stall because of short-term uncertainty — if anything, challenges make the value of professionalism, sincerity, and long-term vision even more apparent.”

Elaine Zheng (PMBC Operation Manager): Students at the Heart of Education

Seven years ago, Elaine started her first job in language training, beginning a journey of working closely with students and parents. “Over time, I realized that education relies on three key roles: the student, the parent, and educational resources. Students bring the willingness to learn, parents provide the support, and counselors serve as the bridge that connects the two. Together, they form a complete cycle, with the student always at the very center.”

Since joining HYP Global, Elaine has managed operation for PMBC. She notes that PMBC classrooms emphasize interactive, inquiry-based learning, with a focus on language, mindset, and academic growth all at once. “We see students grow from passive recipients of knowledge into active explorers and thinkers — watching that transformation is both gratifying and inspiring.”

In Closing

These three colleagues have taken very different paths, but they share the same conviction: the value of international education isn't measured by short-term scale or numbers — it's measured by whether it creates real, lasting value for students. That's the direction HYP Global has held onto for seven years.

This is the fourth article in HYP Global's 7th Anniversary series. Stay tuned for our final piece — a look back at our key milestones.
